Data Summary

with Earthdawn example

I have recently added a summary data view to AnyDice. It only shows the mean, standard deviation, minimum, and maximum of the calculated distributions. This is very useful if you want to compare a bunch of distributions at a glance and are not interested in their exact shape.

Earthdawn

As an example, here's the summary data for the first 25 steps of the old Earthdawn system.

While the normal and at-least graphs are illegible and quite useless, this graph clearly shows the linear progression of the mean. It's also easy to spot the bumps in the progression where dice are added or drastically change shape.

There's a die added on step 8, 19, and 25. Here the maximum stays the same while the minumum goes up and the deviation goes down.

You can also see a rather large deviation jump on step 14, caused by the introduction of the d20.
